“They made my birthday really special. I even had cards from staff and other visitors. They waited for my family, and we had a lovely cake. I have a friend here, and we have a lovely time chatting. She comes to my room because I don’t like to leave. I have a personalised menu; the head chef came and saw me. It’s been running for three weeks, and it’s great. I am well looked after. I know all the staff, and they know me. Even the new staff are good. Staff visit me in their own time.”

“They are brilliant, they are amazing. Staff sit with me for company for an hour; they are so good. It’s 10:30, and I’ve already seen five staff members. They are always in and out, and they go above and beyond.”

“Oh goodness almighty, the care is outstanding here. I walked into this place and knew immediately it was for me. They are all absolutely brilliant. We have a laugh and joke. I have staff and residents who are friends. The place is clean, and you are looked after. The dog show and fete were great. My friend and I have matching lamps, and we put them in our windows for others to see at night, as they are lovely. I have been learning to knit again. I have a magnifying glass for my puzzles. I can’t commend the staff enough, and I will be truly heartbroken and will cry if I ever have to leave. The social worker is trying to sort the funding—please, can I stay here? You are all amazing, and I’m so happy. I would be devastated to leave. I know the manager is also trying.”

“Oh yes, the care is good—absolute angels. They call me ‘Mum’; we are a family. If I could get out of this bed myself, I would hug and kiss them all for the love they give me. I have cancer, you know. Even during personal care, which is a good wash, we joke about my good armpit, the ‘CHARMPIT’—make sure you write that down. I am learning to write with my left arm, and they are getting me a pen with a grip because this is important to me. They are helping me write down their names, so I know which carer has cared for me each day. No complaints from me.”

“The staff are excellent and go above and beyond. I would actually say some are angels—they support my husband, and they support me. One staff member even came to see him in the hospital during their own time. I needed support, and they were there for me, too, outside of work. I am here seven days a week, so I see it all. I used to care for him, so I know what it takes, and they do a great job. We also all have a laugh and joke.”
