We are proud to have won a national award in collaboration with the West Midlands Academic Health Science Network for our work in patient safety, monitoring deterioration, and preventing unnecessary hospital admissions. Our innovative approach to monitoring and responding to residents’ health needs ensures that deterioration is detected early, allowing for timely intervention before hospital treatment is needed. This helps our residents remain in a comfortable and familiar environment, promoting quicker recovery and better overall health outcomes.

Our nursing team works with residents who have physical disabilities, providing the necessary support for mobility, managing complex medical programs (such as wound care or nutritional support), and ensuring a high quality of life. We use specialist equipment to enhance mobility and comfort, including stand aids, hoists, profile beds, and specialist chairs, to help residents live as independently as possible.

To further support our residents at the end of life, we implement the Purple Bow scheme, which ensures dignity, privacy, and individuality. This initiative discreetly highlights, through the use of a purple bow signage, when a resident is nearing the end of life. This alert informs staff, relatives, and healthcare professionals to be particularly mindful of the resident’s wishes and the family’s needs.

The Purple Bow scheme promotes excellent communication between staff, residents, and families. It also encourages a calm and respectful environment where staff offer extra support, such as providing refreshments, minimizing noise, and checking if relatives require assistance. This thoughtful approach to care helps ensure that families are supported during this challenging time, offering them comfort and peace of mind.
