Nursing care, including support for physically disabled residents
At Bradwell Hall, we understand that each resident’s care needs are unique, and we take pride in offering comprehensive nursing care to support individuals with complex health needs, including those who are physically disabled. Whether our residents require help with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, or eating, or more specialized care for ongoing medical conditions, our experienced nursing team is here to provide personalized, compassionate care.
Our registered nurses are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, supported by Care Home Assistant Practitioners and other trained staff. We ensure that every resident receives the right level of care, tailored to their specific needs, whether that involves managing chronic conditions, providing reablement care, or supporting recovery from illness or surgery.
In addition to the high-quality nursing care we provide, Bradwell Hall has a strong focus on hospital prevention and avoidance and was invited to present our work to the government to Secretary of State for Health and Social Care of the United Kingdom
We are proud to have won a national award in collaboration with the West Midlands Academic Health Science Network for our work in patient safety, monitoring deterioration, and preventing unnecessary hospital admissions. Our innovative approach to monitoring and responding to residents’ health needs ensures that deterioration is detected early, allowing for timely intervention before hospital treatment is needed. This helps our residents remain in a comfortable and familiar environment, promoting quicker recovery and better overall health outcomes.
Our nursing team works with residents who have physical disabilities, providing the necessary support for mobility, managing complex medical programs (such as wound care or nutritional support), and ensuring a high quality of life. We use specialist equipment to enhance mobility and comfort, including stand aids, hoists, profile beds, and specialist chairs, to help residents live as independently as possible.
By providing a holistic approach to care, we not only address the physical aspects of care but also focus on the psychological and social needs of our residents. Our team builds strong, trusting relationships with residents and their families, ensuring a smooth transition into care and supporting residents to settle in quickly. With continuous assessments and personalized care plans, we ensure that each individual’s nursing care remains appropriate and effective, supporting their independence and dignity every step of the way.

Palliative care and end of Life
At Bradwell Hall, we believe that every person deserves to live with dignity and respect, especially in their final days. Our staff are fully trained in end-of-life care and are committed to providing compassionate and individualised support to residents and their families. We understand that this is a sensitive and emotional time, and we are dedicated to making the experience as peaceful and comfortable as possible, honouring the wishes and preferences of each resident.
Palliative care is not just for those with terminal illnesses such as cancer but also for individuals with life-limiting conditions, including dementia and age-related illnesses. The primary focus of our palliative care approach is to enhance the quality of life by offering holistic care, addressing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs. This care is delivered with sensitivity, recognizing the importance of cultural, spiritual, and personal values. We ensure that the needs of the resident and their families are met with empathy and professionalism, providing support through every stage, including the bereavement process.

Advance Care Planning (ACP)
Advance Care Planning is an essential aspect of the care we provide. It involves a collaborative conversation between residents, their families, and our staff to understand the resident’s future wishes and priorities for care. ACP enables us to plan in advance and deliver the highest quality of care, ensuring that residents live well and pass with dignity, in the place and manner of their choosing.

The Purple Bow Scheme
To further support our residents at the end of life, we implement the Purple Bow scheme, which ensures dignity, privacy, and individuality. This initiative discreetly highlights, through the use of a purple bow signage, when a resident is nearing the end of life. This alert informs staff, relatives, and healthcare professionals to be particularly mindful of the resident’s wishes and the family’s needs.
The Purple Bow scheme promotes excellent communication between staff, residents, and families. It also encourages a calm and respectful environment where staff offer extra support, such as providing refreshments, minimizing noise, and checking if relatives require assistance. This thoughtful approach to care helps ensure that families are supported during this challenging time, offering them comfort and peace of mind.
We recognise that some residents may not be able to express their wishes. In these situations, our team works diligently in the resident’s best interest, making decisions with compassion and care, always prioritising their dignity and quality of life.
End-of-life care at Bradwell Hall is more than a service; it’s a commitment to providing care with compassion, respect, and love, ensuring our residents can live their final days with dignity and comfort, according to their wishes.
